Pottery Barn knock off...

Okay so here is yet another post about being a home owner. I must say I shop a lot for the house. Ikea, Home Depot, and Pier 1 have become my new favorite stores. Although I must admit my online affair with Pottery Barn. Their things are so cute yet so expensive. Well, I saw this and loved it...
But I didn't love the price of $43. That and I had the perfect spot for a set of three which would set me back $129 that's just ridicules. So off to Home Depot to see what I could come up with.
I got 3 wooden table leggs and 6 pot coasters...

Glued them together with ligued nails...
Then spray painted them black.
Total cost............................................$11.68 for all 3
(I already had the glue and paint)

and I love them! sorry the picture is sideways and I'm not sure how to fix it also Garrett wants the computer :)

My Kitchen

Okay so almost everyone knows I love to bake. So one of the best parts about buying a home is the Kitchen. I haven't however really done much to it until the last month. I wanted a burgundy or maroon kitchen, but I just couldn't find any one color paint I could fall in love with. So after looking at sample after sample of colors that looked good in the store and and bad on my wall I found "back splash"
I started with these...
I must say I love Joann's! Not only are their coupons "One per full price item" (instead of Micheal's "One per person") but they will accept competitors coupons too! I also signed up for their e-mail and mailer and since the coupons have different codes I can use them all.
So I spent a total of $8 to paint my kitchen. And this is what I got.

Here she is stripped and bare

I started off taping off the walls in diagonals. I of course forgot to take pictures of this point.

And if you have never seen my kitchen before, this is what I am working with.

So in this picture you can see the left side is done and the right side is painted but the tape wasn't ready to come off...
I loved when Garrett decided to cook on the stove in the middle of the kitchen.
And here is the right wall done.
And here is the left side done. Oh and we bought a fridge!!!
I am so enjoying being a homeowner and having a husband who appreciates it. (I think he was pretty happy about the price too)

Sewing fun

I started this project about a month ago, but then I ran into a few dilemmas with my sewing machine. (I lost the clear plastic piece that covers the bobbin) Well i finally got it replaced. For being such a small piece it sure was hard to find. I had to order it from a Singer Repair store down in LA. Anyways, I saw this blog that showed you how to take a t-shirt and turn it into a pair of yoga pants. So I got one of Garrett's many shirts he has that he has never worn (and yes I did get his permission first) and cut it like so...

Then I sewed them all together to make these...
Sorry about the picture it was Garrett's cell phone and it's kind of dark. I wish I could still remember the blog I got it from so I could give them credit. Needless to say Garrett's shirts that he doesn't wear he no longer has to get rid of.

January is over... but man was it a blast.

Okay so i suck at posting. I mean really my last blog was about hot wings. So her is a shameless attempt to catch everyone up on whats been going on...

Okay so this month was full of basketball. Santa gave Garrett tickets to see the Warriors play the Pacers who have Tyler Hansbrough (his favorite play that ever played for UNC) it was amazing to watch this kid that we fallowed through his college carer tare it up in the NBA

Jackie my BFF had never been to a basketball game before so she and I went to a Kings game

They were nose bleed seats but it was a lot of fun.

Then Garretts work hooked him up with tickets row 4 it was fun watching the game that night on TV because you could totally see us (if you knew where we were sitting.)

Then Brody had his birthday party!!! His theme was the letter B so the cake was anything with the letter B. Oh and he LOVES bugs. I loved how it turned out. The best part is it's all edible. The bugs are starbursts and air heads.

I missed the party though because Dillon decided to make his grand debut into the world. He is absolutely adorable and it was love at first sight for all of us.

Two days prior though we could be found eating this...

I LOVE crab feeds! I went to one with Jackie and this one was with the fam. I will be at another one this Friday. 3 for the year should be good :)

A lot of my nieces and nephews are active in sports. I was lucky to get to go to one of Tyler's games. Best part was, he was playing my other niece Leah. It was a two for one.

They are only 6 months apart in age

I also got to hang with my Brother-in-law to watch. Jeannett chose to go to Ryan's basketball game but she caught the very end.

I feel so far behind... lots more happen but I need to go to bed and I will try to post more later. Sorry!
